Loreal – Glam Shine Reflexion

Had an amazing day today with my bestie and we went to a local market – Conventry Square. Lots of stalls selling make-up and accessories and we found a place selling cheap cosmetics.

I found Loreal’s Glam Shine – Reflexion in Sheer Watermelon for $4!!

The brush on this lipgloss is amazing! It’s so soft and glides on like a cushion to your lips :) It is probably the weirdest feeling because I am used to sturdy, hard lipgloss brushes but this was smooth and spongey – probably why it’s called reflexion because of the way the lip brush flexes to the shape of your lips. It leaves a glittery, light pinky colour on your lips with a non-sticky texture and wet shine look. Perfect for everyday wear or when you’re out and about. It also leaves a fruity scent which is refreshing but I couldn’t say it was watermelon (probably my sense of taste and smell failing me).

I only bought the one lipgloss because I wasn’t fond of the other colours on sale. This lipgloss usually retails for about $10 from regular cosmetic shops and pharmacies.

It was a great find and I wanted to share it with everyone :)

Update: This what the gloss looks like close up

20120430-220417.jpg

Sorry for the bad image with my bad skin. As you can see its very subtle in colour with a pinky orange tint. It has a soft glitter finish and good for wearing everyday to plump your lips.

In this pic, which I took at work, you can see it’s a bit more reddy pink. I guess it depends on the lighting and how many layers you wear but it’s not that bright in colour. It’s a very soft and natural colour. I like the gloss because you can match it with any sort of make-up and outfit because it’s not that bright. It appears like a pinky coral colour in the gloss pot and is not over the top in appearance. Hope my pics give you an idea of what the gloss will look like against your lips and skin tone :)

Freebies from Priceline

So, out shopping today for birthday presents but if you don’t know me very well, then you’ll find I do present shopping for myself at the same time :)

So I head into Priceline – for any international readers, it’s a Girly store that sells make up, perfume, toiletries, gifts, toothpaste, vitamins etc – and instantly I want to buy all the perfumes because they are all on sale! I tell myself NO! you are out buying presents… So I stop myself. This is extremely hard because I love perfume. I move on because I have to actually buy things that I need.

Head to the make-up counters and see Bourjois is offering a free gift if you spend $19. From what I could tell, the lowest priced item is $20 – to me this is instant winning!! I buy foundation because it’s something I wear everyday for work.

20120428-194239.jpg

I purchase the flower perfection youth extension foundation as it seems to be the feature item on the wall. It comes with a washable sponge – awesome! It cost me $34. I was excited about the free gift because it came in this box:

When I opened it up it was wrapped in tissue paper. You know it’s good when it’s in tissue paper! So I received a rose exclusif lipgloss and volume glamour ultra curl mascara – worth approx $42. Coincidentally I receive a sample of the foundation i just bought. I’ve gotta say that the lipgloss is amazing! It’s a transparent gloss that self adjusts its pink colour when applied :) It also has a sweet scent kind of like candy rather than rose (but this could be my nose playing tricks one me)

This is what the products looked like:

Moving on from this counter, I randomly stumble upon a Hello Kitty counter! Say what now? A Hello Kitty counter!!

20120428-195916.jpg

So, they were offering a free body spray with any purchase – score!! I look thoroughly at each product. I felt that I already have too many eyeliners, eyeshadows and nail polish and don’t need powder or foundation, so I go for the lipgloss and lipsticks because I feel you can never have too many of those :D I buy a shimmery bright pink lipgloss and this amazingly outstanding pinky purple lipstick.

20120428-200343.jpg

I believe the bright pinks are making a comeback. I used to wear pink lipstick all the time when I was about 8 years old and I thought I was the coolest but now since I know how to experiment with colours and not look like a nincompoop, it’s something I am excited at testing out. By making this purchase I received a melon body mist which smells amazingly fruity and fabulous. I think the products I bought are great to wear out for a Girly night and keeping it flirty and fun or if you just want to brighten up an outfit through your make-up. I’m all about the pinks in general.

If you don’t know me, then you’ll soon find out that I love Hello Kitty! It’s also because I’m Asian :)

If you’re out and about, be sure to look at the specials. Don’t be afraid to ask which items are on sale and see if you receive free gifts. I feel that if you love a brand or product and they offer free gifts, then you win because you gain products you wouldn’t have thought to try before and sort of save money at the same time as you have more products for one original price – well that’s how i see it anyway ;)

So girls head out to Priceline if you want to score some freebies with your purchases. Priceline never disappoints!!

Moonpig Cards

I make personalized cards from this amazing website  – Moonpig

I totes stole this great way of card creation from my sister and everyone asks where I make them from.

UK website can be found here

US website can be found here

It’s great because you can make personalized cards for people you know and pay less, if not same price as you would retail.Also, if you load up credit, they’ll give extra money to your credit pool!

I usually make cards with photo uploads to make a more personalized touch. And, you don’t even have to go with generic messages inside the card! You can pretty much write anything and they print it out and either send it to you or direct to the recipient if you know their address.

To give you an idea of what I’ve done:

Sorry to my friends if you didn’t want your photo uploaded…. That’s what you get when you are friends with me :P

Flashing Fuchsia

So, continuing on with my nail polish trends, I bring to you Fuchsia

It’s a bright, sassy colour that is great for vibrant, coloured candy outfits or what I prefer fuchsia against black.

The nail polishes listed above from left to right are:

Butter London offer Disco Biscuit for $14 and be bought directly off their website for people living in Canada, UK or the US. For Australian customers, you can try Adore Beauty, Kleins Perfumery, Green Organics, Peachy Clean for $22, Honey Honey for $19.80 or Skincare Store for $19.95 – this was the cheapest I could find.

MAC offer Toco Toucan for US$16 direct off their website. Unfortunately it wasn’t available on the Australian MAC website but you can always go to your local Myer to the beauty counter to see if they have this. I also couldn’t find the nail polish at local beauty websites and Amazon had it for $29.

Nails Inc. offers Notting Hill Gate for £11 directly off their website but only ships to the UK and Ireland. I did manage to find other shipping options for US and Australian customers from Sephora for US$9.50 and Beauty Bay for Au$15.40.

Kat Von D of LA Ink fame offers a limited edition nail polish that is only found at Sephora for US$12.50.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are some other cool finds that might tickle your fancy.
Essie offer Flirty Fuchsia which I think is brilliant because it’s a neon Hot Pink. I found this on Amazon from store AVEYOU Beauty for US$8. I could not find any local Australian stores that stock this shade of nail polish. Essie is an American brand.
Barry M offers Shocking Pink which can be bought from their website for £2.99 which is approx. AU$4.60. They do offer international shipping when emailed. Another in your face colour with a casual outdoor outfit. Fun for the beach!
China Glaze offer 108 Degrees from the Island Escape Collection and is a deep pink nail polish with glitter. The glitter is hard to see in the pic. I like this shade as it borders on a reddy, rosey colour as well. Found this for $2.35 on Amazon seller My Beauty Smart. It is also available at My Beauty Halls for $8 and $5.99 from Sally Beauty.
Ok, I am a totes sucker for presentation. I love how this bottle of nail polish looks. This is on offer from Filthy Gorgeous London for £9. This I also found from Blue Banana for the same price. It is part of their 3D collection and it meant to sparkle and dazzle with a crystalized effect. Looks very flashy and shimmery and I think it’s perfect for going out for a girl’s night out!
Rimmel offer Funtime Fuchsia from their 60 seconds range. In Australia, it will mention where to buy it but no online options. You can check out your local pharmacy, Priceline, KMart, Target and Big W for approx. AU$7.95. For UK customers, I managed to find Chemist Direct for £3.39, Superdrug for £3.69 and Clockwork Pharmacy for £4.69. I think Rimmel is a reliable brand and who doesn’t want their nail polish coats only taking 1 minute to dry. It is a solid fuchsia colour with a matte finish.
Zoya offer Kimber from their Surf Collection range for $8 directly from their site for US customers only. This is meant to be a beachy colour and offers a hint of glitter through the deep fuchsia. mBeauty Lounge offer international shipping and sell this product for $6.60. I like this nail polish for the hints of gold/yellow sparkle that tints the fuchsia making it dainty in appearance. Different take on the glittery fuchsia.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So this is the 2nd part of my nail polish series for upcoming trends in 2012.

I tried to go with neon and glittery fuchsias to pizazz up your nails coming from summer into Autumn.It’s not a colour for everyone but does suit all skin tones depending on the depth of colour you choose.

Please feel free to hit me up for any requests.
